Elgin County Railway Museum
History in the re-making- It's an experience like no other because
the Elgin County Railway Museum is a working museum. Housed in
the former 1913 Michigan Central Railroad Locomotive Shops
volunteers diligently and painstakingly restore exhibits to their
original splendor. With a closer look, you can imagine riding in style
in a Pullman sleeper car, or stoking the fire inside a steam engine.
A must visit when you are in the area......

located in the beautiful, lakeside village of Port Stanley, ON.,
Canada. PSTR is Elgin County's longest running tourist attraction
CASO -Canadian Southern Railway
As part of St. Thomas' place as the Railway Capital of Canada, the
Canada Southern Railway Station’s architecture and history make it
a unique heritage property. The CASO Station is virtually a horizontal
“skyscraper”, and its size and design gives the building a dominating
aura and presence in St. Thomas’s downtown.
Local attractions include the Elgin County Railway Museum and
the North America Railway Hall of Fame. Every August people from
St. Thomas and visitors from far and wide come to celebrate the
railway influence in the Iron Horse Festival. The current
community focus is a fundraising effort to save the old railway
station, originally built in 1872.
